A Certain Magical Index

Three series running side by side in one city, and the right order is not the release order.

Where to start with A Certain Magical Index

Start with Index, not Railgun, even though Railgun is the better show. The two are interleaved and Railgun leans on Index for context.

  1. 1
A Certain Magical Index, season one A Certain Magical Index

Twenty four episodes. This sets up the city and the two sides of it, and everything else assumes you have seen it.

  2. 2
A Certain Scientific Railgun, season one A Certain Scientific Railgun

Twenty four episodes covering roughly the same period from Mikoto's side. It works after Index season one and it is where most people decide they prefer this series.

  3. 3
Index II, then Railgun S A Certain Magical Index

Railgun S overlaps the first half of Index II deliberately. Watching Index II first and then Railgun S is the cleanest way through; interleaving them episode by episode is a thing people do but is not necessary.

  4. 4
    Accelerator A Certain Scientific Accelerator

Twelve episodes, after Index II. Optional.

  5. 5
Index III, then Railgun T A Certain Magical Index

Index III covers a lot of ground quickly. Railgun T is the better made of the two.

Then what? The Endymion film is standalone and fits anywhere. The novels go far past all of it: twenty two volumes, then twenty three of New Testament, then Genesis Testament, still running.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
