On the data. This page is short because the franchise is short: one film and one nine minute short, and nothing since. The film's production history is the part worth knowing. Brenda Chapman wrote it and was the first woman to direct a Pixar feature. She was removed from the project partway through and Mark Andrews finished it. Both are credited as directors and Chapman has since talked publicly about how that went. The film won the Academy Award for animated feature, which made it the first Oscar for a film a woman had directed at Pixar, under unusual circumstances. Merida has appeared in plenty of Disney merchandising and in the Disney Princess line since, and a redesign of her for that line in 2013 drew enough objection, including from Chapman, that Disney pulled it. None of that is story. There is no sequel and none has been announced. One small thing people ask about: Brave is a Pixar film, not a Walt Disney Animation Studios one, which is why it does not look or sound like Tangled or Frozen despite arriving between them.
