Digimon

Only two of the nine television series continue each other, and the rest are separate worlds that share a name.

Where to start with Digimon

The first question is not what order to watch Digimon in, it is which Digimon you mean. Only Adventure and 02 continue into anything, so start there and follow that thread to its end. If you would rather watch one self-contained series and stop, skip this path and watch Tamers.

  1. 1
Digimon Adventure, all 54 episodes Digimon Adventure

The 1999 series and the beginning of the only continuing story in the franchise. Everything later in this group assumes you know these eight children and their partners.

  2. 2
Our War Game! Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!

A forty minute film set between the two series. It is the direct setup for the 02 film Revenge of Diaboromon and it is genuinely good, unlike most tie-in shorts.

  3. 3
Digimon Adventure 02, all 50 episodes Digimon Adventure 02

A real sequel three years on, with a new group of children and the original cast still present. Its final epilogue jumps twenty-five years ahead, which later titles quietly work around.

  4. 4
Digimon Adventure tri. Chapter 1: Reunion Digimon Adventure tri. Chapter 1: Reunion

The first of six films that pick the story up in 2005 with the original cast as teenagers. Watch chapters one to six in order; they are one continuous story cut into six releases.

  5. 5
Last Evolution Kizuna Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna

The intended ending for these characters, with the children now adults and their partnerships running out of time. It follows tri. directly and it is where most people should stop.

Then what? After Kizuna, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning from 2023 is a coda focused on the 02 cast. Everything in Separate continuities can then be watched in any order or not at all: Tamers is the usual recommendation, Frontier and Data Squad are self-contained, Xros Wars runs as three linked parts, and Ghost Game and Beatbreak are the newest. The 2020 reboot is not a next step, it is the same beginning told again.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.
