Dynasty, and then a decision at season six about whether to take the detour. The Colbys is not required, but it is a much stronger dependency than most spin-offs, because two leads disappear into it for two years and come back changed.

Season one is fifteen episodes in a short mid-season run and is a quieter, smaller show than what follows. The scale changes from season two.
The Californians introduces the Colbys and The Titans is the backdoor pilot, which aired a week before their show started.
Forty-nine episodes, running alongside Dynasty season seven. It ends on a cliffhanger, and the only place that cliffhanger is ever resolved is Dynasty.
Season eight opens with The Siege, which picks up the Colbys ending directly. Skip The Colbys and this is the point where Dynasty starts telling you about things instead of showing them.
Two parts in 1991, and the actual ending. The 1989 finale stops on a cliffhanger.
Then what? The 2017 series is a separate thing entirely and needs none of the above. One hundred and eight episodes over five seasons.
