Ne Zha and the Fengshen universes

Two Chinese studios were filming the same mythology at the same time, so there are two unrelated Nezha films and a live-action trilogy on top, and the English listings do not tell you which is which.

Where to start with Ne Zha and the Fengshen universes

Watch one studio's films and ignore the other for now. Chengdu Coco Cartoon's line is the one that actually continues from film to film, and it is three films long. The Light Chaser films with Nezha in the title are a separate world and will not make more sense if you watch them in between.

  1. 1
    Ne Zha Ne Zha

The 2019 film by Jiaozi at Chengdu Coco Cartoon. It assumes nothing, it introduces Nezha and Ao Bing, and its post-credits scene is the studio pointing at what comes next.

  2. 2
Ne Zha 2 Ne Zha 2

A direct continuation that begins moments after the first film ends, with the same director and the same studio. It is unwatchable as a starting point and it does not recap.

  3. 3
    Jiang Ziya Jiang Ziya

Released between the two Ne Zha films but set after both, opening with the war already decided. Watching it third keeps its opening from spoiling where the Ne Zha story is heading.

Then what? The two New Gods films from Light Chaser Animation are a separate continuity in a different world, watchable in either order, though Nezha Reborn came first and Yang Jian answers a thread it left open. The live-action Creation of the Gods films are a third thing again and go in numbered order, with the third film shot but still unreleased. None of the three lines requires either of the others.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below — tick anything off in either place.

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. To carry it to another device, move the code below.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in — good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that — scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Restoring replaces the progress currently saved on this device for the franchise the code belongs to.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.
