One film, a hundred minutes, and nothing to arrange. The one thing worth knowing before you start is that it is not only about the climb. A good part of it is about the people filming it, who are Honnold's friends and who spend the whole production aware that they may be pointing a camera at a man falling to his death. That tension is the film's second subject and the reason it is better than a sports documentary.

Alex Honnold climbs Freerider on El Capitan with no rope and no safety equipment. Directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, who is a climber himself, which is why the camera can be where it is.
