Where to start with High School Musical

The films in order, and then the series, which needs none of them. That last part is the thing worth knowing: the series is not a sequel and a newcomer can start there.

  1. 1
The three films, in order High School Musical

2006, then the summer of 2007, then senior year in 2008. Release order is story order and there is nothing to decide.

  2. 2
Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure, after the third film Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure

Set about a year after Senior Year, so watching it earlier puts Sharpay in the wrong place and gives away that she graduated. Optional: it follows one character rather than continuing the story.

  3. 3
The series, all four seasons High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

A different thing entirely. A school stages a stage version of the films, in a world where the films exist. The films are not required; they add recognition, and most of that recognition lands in the fourth season, where six of the original cast appear as versions of themselves.

Then what? The series ended on 9 August 2023 and the fourth season was announced in advance as the last. There is no High School Musical 4, despite the title of one of the series' own episodes.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
