Forty episodes of about eleven minutes each, in order. Every Book is a new protagonist and a complete story that does not end on a cliffhanger, so it reads as an anthology, but the Books share a world and recurring characters and Book Two is built directly on Book One. Start at the start.

Book One follows Tulip Olsen, a girl who wakes on an endless train with a glowing number on her hand. Book Two's protagonist is a character created by and defined against her, so it is close to unintelligible without Book One.
New protagonists again, on HBO Max. The throughline characters carry across, and Book Four uses a time setting trick that only lands if you know the earlier Books.
Watch it after, if at all. It is the proof of concept, not a prologue.
Then what? Ended after Book Four in April 2021 with four of a planned eight Books made. The creator has described what was lost: further Books following Amelia and Hazel with an ending he says was already written, a feature film, a video game, a VR piece and a comic series. None of it happened.
