Where to start with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Do not start at season one. It is seven episodes long, it was shot for about two hundred dollars, and the cast had not worked out who these people are yet. Danny DeVito is not in it. Almost nobody who loves this show loves season one, and plenty of people bounced off the whole thing because they started where the menu told them to.

Season 2 It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Ten episodes, and the real beginning. DeVito arrives as Frank, the budget goes up, and the show works out that these are terrible people rather than likeable ones.

  2. 2
Season 3 It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Fifteen episodes, the longest season it ever made, and the one most people would hand a newcomer.

  3. 3
Season 1, afterwards It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Seven episodes. Go back for it once you like the show. As an origin it is interesting; as an introduction it is a poor advert for everything that follows.

Then what? After that it runs straight through. The show is episodic, nothing carries over for long, and you can stop and start anywhere. Season 18 finished on 12 October 2026 and took it to a hundred and eighty eight episodes, which makes it the longest-running live-action sitcom in American television.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
