Laika

On the data. This is a collection, not a franchise. Six films, no shared story, no watch order. They are listed oldest first because release order is the only order they have. What holds them together is how they are made. Laika animates in stop motion, a frame at a time, with physical puppets on physical sets, and then prints replacement faces on 3D printers so a puppet can hold thousands of expressions. Coraline used about 207,000 printed faces; Missing Link used around 106,000. A good week of shooting is a few seconds of film. They are also darker than their certificates suggest. Coraline is a horror film for children and is genuinely frightening. ParaNorman opens on a zombie film and ends up about a bullied child and a lynching. The Boxtrolls is about a boy raised by rubbish collectors under a town that wants them exterminated. Parents who put these on expecting something soft are often surprised, and the individual pages say so. The company is unusual in another way: it is owned by Phil Knight, the founder of Nike, and it is run by his son Travis Knight, who is also an animator on the films and directed Kubo. That is why six commercial failures in a row did not close it. Ticking a film here is the same tick as ticking it on its own page. Progress is stored against the film, not against the list it was ticked from.

On your progress. Checkmarks are saved on this device and are tied to permanent title IDs, not to list positions, so new episodes, titles, and whole franchises can be added later without disturbing anything you've already marked. Use Sync & backup to move progress to another device.
