Road to...

Seven films with the same three stars playing different people every time, so there is no order and nothing carries over.

Where to start with Road to...

Any of them, on its own. There is no continuity at all: the same three actors play brand new characters with new names in every film, so nothing carries over and nothing is spoiled.

  1. 1
Road to Morocco (1942) Road to Morocco

Start here rather than at the beginning. It is the best of them, the funniest, and the one that leans hardest into Bob Hope talking straight to the audience about the film he is in.

  2. 2
Road to Singapore (1940) Road to Singapore

The first, if you would rather go in order. It sets the formula that all six Paramount films then repeat: two drifters, a far away place, Dorothy Lamour, and a patty-cake routine before a fight.

  3. 3
The Road to Hong Kong (1962) The Road to Hong Kong

The last, and the odd one. Made in England for a different studio ten years after the previous film, in black and white, with Joan Collins as the lead and Dorothy Lamour reduced to a cameo.

Then what? Zanzibar, Utopia, Rio and Bali are the same proposition as the rest and can go in any order. Two things to watch for: Road to Utopia was shot in 1943 and shelved until 1946, so catalogues date it three different ways, and Road to Bali is out of copyright in America, which means most copies floating about are terrible.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
