RoboCop

Three films that follow each other, and five other things that all start again from the first one.

Where to start with RoboCop

Start with the trilogy, because it is the only part of this franchise where one thing follows another. Everything else branches off the 1987 film separately, which means there is no single line through all eight.

  1. 1
    RoboCop (1987) RoboCop

Everything in the franchise starts here, including the four things that pretend the sequels never happened. Nothing precedes it.

  2. 2
    RoboCop 2 (1990) RoboCop 2

A direct sequel, same continuity, same lead.

  3. 3
    RoboCop 3 (1993) RoboCop 3

Still the same continuity despite Robert John Burke taking over from Peter Weller. Completed in 1991 and shelved for two years by Orion's collapse, which is why it feels out of step.

Then what? After that you are choosing a branch rather than continuing. The 1994 television series follows the first film and ignores both sequels, so watch it after RoboCop rather than after RoboCop 3 even though it aired later. Prime Directives from 2001 is a separate branch again, set ten years after the first film and written around everything in between. The two animated series, from 1988 and 1998, are their own continuities and connect to nothing. The 2014 film is a clean remake that requires nothing at all before it.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
