On the data. This page deliberately does not give Scooby-Doo one chronology, because it does not have one. Since 1969 the characters have been rebuilt from scratch at least a dozen times, and most of those versions contradict each other about how the gang met, how old they are, whether monsters are real, and who is even in the group. A single numbered list covering all of it would be an invention. What follows is what can honestly be said. The one stretch that behaves like a continuity is the Hanna-Barbera network run from 1969 to 1985, and even that is mostly continuity by habit rather than by plot. Its packaging is the real trap. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! is twenty-five episodes: seventeen in 1969 and eight in 1970. In 1978 sixteen episodes of a later series were re-aired and later sold on DVD under the Where Are You! name as a third season, which is why you will see the show listed with forty-one episodes. Those sixteen belong to The Scooby-Doo Show, which itself never aired under that title while it was new: its forty episodes went out between 1976 and 1978 inside The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour, Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics and Scooby's All-Stars, and only picked up the name The Scooby-Doo Show in 1980 reruns. The Scrappy era is worse. Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo is sixteen half hour episodes in 1979 and 1980, then thirty-three further half hours between 1980 and 1982 that are each made of three seven minute shorts, ninety-nine shorts in total, broadcast inside The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show and The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo/Puppy Hour. The counts on this page are half hour slots, which is why they read as forty-nine and not as one hundred and fifteen. After that come The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show in 1983 and a second season in 1984 that aired as The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, and then The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo in 1985, which is serialised, is thirteen episodes long, and was cancelled before the gang caught the thirteenth ghost. A direct to video film in 2019, Curse of the 13th Ghost, was made to finish it thirty-four years late. Everything else stands apart. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, from 1988 to 1991, is twenty-seven episodes of the gang as children and does not fit anywhere in the run above. What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, Scoob! and Velma are each their own version of the characters, and none of them continues any of the others. Mystery Incorporated, fifty-two episodes across 2010 to 2013, is the outlier worth naming: it is the only version that runs one serialised story from the first episode to the last and completes it, and it is the one most often recommended to adults. The direct to video films are the largest single block, thirty-five of them between 1998 and 2023, and they are not one series. The first four, Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders and Cyber Chase, were made by the same team over four years, share a look and a tone, and are treated by most viewers as a run. Everything after 2003 is standalone, made in a different house style, and can be watched in any order. Return to Zombie Island in 2019 is the only real sequel among them. Assigning the first four films and the three Scrappy television films a position in the story order column here is a reading rather than a fact: nothing in them states that they follow the 1969 to 1985 series, and Warner Bros. has never published a chronology. Everything else on this page is left outside the story order on purpose, because giving it a number would be pretending to knowledge nobody has. On counts and dates, a few figures are worth flagging. Wikipedia's media list gives Velma twenty-one episodes; the service that carries it shows ten in each season, which is the figure used here. Aloha, Scooby-Doo! is listed by several guides as 2004 and was released in February 2005, which is the year used here. Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! is occasionally listed at seventy-seven episodes; it is fifty-two, twenty-six per season. Two productions are listed as unreleased with no numbers attached. A live action origin series is in production for Netflix, with an eight episode order and a 2027 premiere both reported in the trade press rather than announced, so neither figure is entered. Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, an anime series set in Japan, was greenlit by Tubi with Warner Bros. Animation in May 2026 and has no date or episode count. Finally, what is not here. Dozens of half hour holiday specials, shorts, LEGO shorts, interactive specials and crossover one-offs exist, and listing every one of them would produce a page nobody could use and that would still be incomplete, since several have never had a formal home video release. The two feature length LEGO films are listed; the LEGO shorts are not. If you are looking for a specific special rather than a series or a film, this page will not have it, and that is a choice rather than an oversight.
