In order. The cases are weekly but the Red John story runs underneath the whole first six seasons and is the reason to watch, so starting late gives it away. The real seam is not between seasons: it is between the eighth and ninth episodes of the sixth, where the story ends and the show restarts somewhere else with a two year gap.
