Assassin's Creed

Three short films that are game canon, one film that is not, and a Netflix series that is a third thing again.

Where to start with Assassin's Creed

The three short films are the only screen work that is part of the games' story. The 2016 film is separate and the Netflix series will be separate again.

  1. 1
    Assassin's Creed: Lineage (2009) Assassin's Creed: Lineage

Thirty six minutes, free, and genuinely part of the games: it is a prequel to Assassin's Creed II about Ezio's father, and the performances were used in the game.

  2. 2
    Assassin's Creed: Embers (2011) Assassin's Creed: Embers

Twenty one minutes that finish Ezio's life. Only watch it after Revelations, because it is that game's ending and it does not pretend otherwise.

  3. 3
    Assassin's Creed (2016) Assassin's Creed

The film, and a completely separate story with new characters. It made no money, its sequels were cancelled, and it stops on a setup nothing follows.

Then what? Ascendance, from 2010, sits between the second game and Brotherhood. A Netflix series set in Ancient Rome was filming through 2026 with no announced date or episode count. An animated series and an anime were both announced in 2020 and neither has produced anything, so neither is listed.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
