Where to start with Barbershop

The three Barbershop films in order. They are one story about one shop and they work best that way.

  1. 1
    Barbershop (2002) Barbershop

One day, one shop, and an argument about whether to sell it. Everything after this assumes you know the room and the people in it.

  2. 2
Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004) Barbershop 2: Back in Business

Follows straight on with almost the whole cast back. It also plants Queen Latifah's Gina, which is the only reason the spin-off makes sense.

  3. 3
Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) Barbershop: The Next Cut

Twelve years on, with the barbershop and the beauty shop merged into one room. It quietly drops two of the original barbers, which is worth knowing so you are not waiting for them.

Then what? Beauty Shop from 2005 follows Gina to Atlanta and stands completely alone: no returning barbers, no shared setting. Streaming services list it as Barbershop 3 and it is not. The 2005 Showtime series recasts everybody and is best treated as a separate thing. A new Barbershop series was ordered by Prime Video in 2025 with a new lead, and it has no announced date, so it is not listed here yet.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
