Where to start with Cardcaptor Sakura

Watch the series, then the second film, then Clear Card. The second film is not optional.

  1. 1
    The series Cardcaptor Sakura

Seventy episodes across three seasons. Watch the Japanese version with subtitles, for reasons in the notes below.

  2. 2
Movie 2: The Sealed Card Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card

This is the ending. The series stops just short and the film finishes it. People who skip it come away thinking the story has no conclusion.

  3. 3
Clear Card Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card

Twenty two episodes from 2018, eighteen years later, with the original staff back. It picks up directly from the second film.

  4. 4
    The manga Cardcaptor Sakura

Twelve volumes, and a different enough telling to be worth reading after. It is shorter and tighter; the anime is warmer and has more of the friendships.

Then what? The first film, from 1999, is a standalone adventure that fits during the series. Clear Card's manga ran to 2024 and goes past the anime. A further Clear Card anime season has been announced.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
