Danganronpa

One series for the first game, then three linked series for the second, and two of those are meant to be watched alternately.

Where to start with Danganronpa

Play the games if you can. If you are watching, there is one thing to get right about the 2016 series.

  1. 1
Danganronpa: The Animation Danganronpa: The Animation

Thirteen episodes covering the first game. It is heavily compressed and the mysteries do not land the way they do when you are solving them yourself, but it gets you the story.

  2. 2
Danganronpa 3, alternating Future Arc and Despair Arc Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School

These two aired in the same week as each other on purpose, one episode of each, and they are written to be watched that way. Future Arc is set after everything; Despair Arc is a prequel; each episode of one is answered by an episode of the other. Watching one arc straight through and then the other loses most of it.

  3. 3
Hope Arc Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School

A single episode that closes both. It goes last.

Then what? Danganronpa/Zero is a light novel prequel. The stage plays are Japan only. The third game, V3, has no adaptation.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
