Where to start with Death in Paradise

Broadcast order, with the Christmas specials in their dates rather than saved as bonus material. That last part is the whole warning. Every service files the specials somewhere separate, and one of them is not optional.

  1. 1
Series 1 and 2 Death in Paradise

Ben Miller as DI Richard Poole. Watch the series 3 opener without knowing anything about it.

  2. 2
Series 3 to 6 Death in Paradise

Kris Marshall as Humphrey Goodman. Series 6 is where he leaves, and it is also the prerequisite for Beyond Paradise.

  3. 3
Series 7 to 13 Death in Paradise

Ardal O'Hanlon, then Ralf Little. The 2021, 2022 and 2023 Christmas specials belong in here by date.

  4. 4
The 2024 Christmas special, before series 14 Christmas Special 2024

This is the one. It introduces Don Gilet's DI Mervin Wilson, and series 14 opens with him already in post as if you have met him.

  5. 5
Series 14 and 15 Death in Paradise

The current pairing. Series 15 finished in March 2026 and a sixteenth is filming.

Then what? Beyond Paradise needs Death in Paradise up to series 6 first, and its own series 1 finale is a crossover back to Saint Marie. Return to Paradise is the one that genuinely stands alone and can be watched first.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. The code below takes a copy out and puts it back. Moving a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is part of the subscription.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in, good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Every franchise you have touched, in one code.

Scan it with another device's camera, or paste the code in below. It never leaves your browser.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that: scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Takes either kind of code. A single franchise code replaces that franchise, on any device. An everything code merges by default, so nothing you have ticked on this device is lost. Putting a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is the part an account pays for.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.
