Rodriguez has described it as the film he would have made the first time with money. So you can start there without being lost. The third film gets progressively less interested in its own lead. Johnny Depp's corrupt agent takes over a large part of it, which some people enjoy and others regard as the film losing its thread. The three are often called the Mexico Trilogy. There is nothing after them.
