Grindhouse

One three hour double feature, split in two almost everywhere else, and three of its fake trailers later became real films.

Where to start with Grindhouse

If you can find the full double feature, watch that and nothing else. Watching the two halves separately is not the same film, and the difference is the whole point.

  1. 1
    Grindhouse (2007) Grindhouse

Three hours, two features, fake trailers between them and scratched prints throughout. This is the version the thing was made to be. In America it was not available at home until a Blu-ray in October 2010.

  2. 2
    Planet Terror (2007) Planet Terror

The separate release of the first half, and longer, because the missing reel is put back. You gain about fifteen minutes of story and lose the gag the film was built around.

  3. 3
    Death Proof (2007) Death Proof

The separate release of the second half, also longer. Same trade: more film, less joke. Kurt Russell is the reason to watch either version.

Then what? Three of the fake trailers turned into real films: Machete in 2010, Hobo with a Shotgun in 2011, and Thanksgiving in 2023. None of them continues Grindhouse and none of them needs it. Machete has its own small run with Machete Kills in 2013, and the third film that film advertises has never been made. Two trailers, Werewolf Women of the SS and Don't, were never adapted.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
