Where to start with Kill Bill

Either the two volumes in order, or the single version, which is now the one worth seeking out. What you should not do is try to watch it in chronological order, and the reason is worth a paragraph.

  1. 1
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (2025) Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

The film as it was shot, before the studio split it. Roughly four hours, with the House of Blue Leaves fight in full colour rather than the black and white used to get an R rating, seven and a half minutes of anime that exist nowhere else, and the two halves running as one story. It premiered at Cannes in 2004 and had no general release until December 2025.

  2. 2
Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) Kill Bill: Volume 1

If the single version is not to hand, start here. Chapters one to five, ending on a reveal that the single version deliberately removes because it does not need it.

  3. 3
Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004) Kill Bill: Volume 2

Chapters six to ten. It was never meant to be a separate film and it does not really work as one, which is the point.

Then what? That is everything. There is no Volume 3. Tarantino ruled it out explicitly in 2023 and has been working towards a different final film since. A thirteen minute animated short called The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge accompanied the 2025 theatrical run and is a companion piece rather than a chapter.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
