Jaws

Four films, and the fourth one pretends the third never happened.

Where to start with Jaws

Release order, with one decision to make partway through. The fourth film is written as though the third does not exist, so there are two defensible runs and neither is wrong.

  1. 1
    Jaws (1975) Jaws

The one everything else exists because of. Nothing precedes it, it explains itself completely, and it is the only film in the series most people need.

  2. 2
    Jaws 2 (1978) Jaws 2

Back to Amity with the same police chief, and the only sequel that follows on cleanly. Whether it is set four years later is repeated everywhere and stated nowhere in the film.

  3. 3
Jaws: The Revenge (1987) Jaws: The Revenge

A direct sequel to Jaws 2. It picks up the Brody family and carries nothing at all over from Jaws 3-D, which is why Universal's own marketing called it the third film of the trilogy despite it being the fourth released.

Then what? That is the run the studio itself endorsed. Jaws 3-D from 1983 sits outside it: Michael Brody's career, marriage and SeaWorld job in that film are simply gone by the next one. Watch it if you want the complete set, in release order between Jaws 2 and The Revenge, and know that nothing in it is referred to again. There is no Jaws television series. Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story from 2025 is a documentary about the making of the first film rather than part of it, and is not listed here.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
