Each series is a self-contained investigation and you could technically start anywhere, but there is a thread running through all thirty-six episodes that only pays off if you have watched them, and the sixth series is almost entirely about things set up in the second and fourth. Do not read anything about it first: this is a show that people spoil by accident.
