Where to start with Longmire

Season one of the series, and treat the novels as a separate thing rather than a reading-along guide. The show takes Craig Johnson's sheriff and his county and then tells its own stories, and the season-long arcs on screen are not in the books. People who start both at once spend the whole time waiting for events that never arrive.

  1. 1
    Season 1 Longmire

Ten episodes on A&E in 2012. A case a week, with the death of Walt's wife running underneath.

  2. 2
Season 4, the move to Netflix Longmire

A&E cancelled it after season three and Netflix picked it up. Nothing in the story changes, but the episodes get longer and the language loosens.

  3. 3
The Cold Dish (2004) The Walt Longmire Mysteries

The first novel, if the series takes. It is the same sheriff and the same county and a completely different case.

Then what? Seasons five and six finish the series on Netflix in 2016 and 2017, and it ends deliberately rather than being cut off. The novels are twenty two and counting, with The Brothers McKay in 2026, so the books carry on long past where the show stops.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
