Where to start with The Andy Griffith Show

One town, three shows, and both spin-offs are launched from inside the parent. Broadcast order is the only order that makes sense, and the two launch episodes are worth hitting in place.

  1. 1
Seasons 1 to 4 The Andy Griffith Show

One hundred and twenty-seven episodes in black and white. The season four finale sends Gomer to the Marines and is the pilot for his own show.

  2. 2
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.

One hundred and fifty episodes starting that September, running alongside the parent show for the whole of its remaining life.

  3. 3
Seasons 5 to 8 The Andy Griffith Show

Season five is the last in black and white and the last with Barney as a regular. The season eight finale hands over to the next show.

  4. 4
    Mayberry R.F.D. Mayberry R.F.D.

Seventy-eight episodes carrying straight on with a different lead, and cancelled while it was still in the top fifteen.

  5. 5
Return to Mayberry Return to Mayberry

Eighteen years later, with most of them back.

Then what? Two other Andy Griffith series are often filed here and are not part of it: Headmaster in 1970 and The New Andy Griffith Show in 1971, the second of which is set in a different town but opens with three Mayberry actors guesting as their own characters, which is why people assume otherwise.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. The code below takes a copy out and puts it back. Moving a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is part of the subscription.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in, good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Every franchise you have touched, in one code.

Scan it with another device's camera, or paste the code in below. It never leaves your browser.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that: scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Takes either kind of code. A single franchise code replaces that franchise, on any device. An everything code merges by default, so nothing you have ticked on this device is lost. Putting a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is the part an account pays for.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.
