Where to start with Moesha and Girlfriends

One universe, two chains that barely touch. Take each chain straight through. The only place they meet is a single Monday night in February 2001, and it is a joke rather than a story.

  1. 1
    Moesha, all six seasons Moesha

Watch season four episode eighteen before starting The Parkers: it is where Nikki Parker arrives and the spin-off is set up. Be warned that the last episode is a cliffhanger with no resolution anywhere.

  2. 2
The Parkers, alongside Moesha or after it The Parkers

The two ran together for twenty-one months and share a finale date twice over. Nothing is lost by finishing Moesha first: Kim and Andell leave Moesha for this show, so the parent reads cleanly without them.

  3. 3
    Girlfriends, all eight seasons Girlfriends

Watch season six episode eighteen before starting The Game: it is where Melanie Barnett, Joan's cousin, arrives. The last season is thirteen episodes because of the writers' strike and stops rather than ends.

  4. 4
The Game, then the 2021 one The Game

The first three seasons overlap with Girlfriends' last two on the same network, so air date order works there. Then a twenty month silence before BET picks it up at season four with the same numbering. The Paramount+ series is separate and starts again at one.

Then what? The 2021 series was cancelled in June 2023 and nothing has followed. A further revival has not been announced.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
