The first eleven episodes are the show it was meant to be. From the twelfth it starts becoming something else, and from season four or five it is largely a science fiction comedy about a boy with a transformation chamber.

Then what? There was never a crossover between the two shows. Two of the parent show's leads were written into the Family Matters pilot and cut before broadcast, and the character simply changed jobs off screen.
