Where to start with Pusher

The three Danish films in order. They are not sequels in the usual sense, because each one hands the story to a different person, but the later ones only work if you know who those people were.

  1. 1
    Pusher (1996) Pusher

Refn's first film, and the one that made his name and Mads Mikkelsen's. Frank, a week, and a debt. Everything after it assumes you have met this world.

  2. 2
    Pusher II (2004) Pusher II

Eight years later and it drops Frank entirely for Tonny, his sidekick from the first film, now out of prison. Go in knowing the lead has changed, because nothing warns you.

  3. 3
    Pusher 3 (2005) Pusher 3

Changes lead again, to Milo, who has been in the background of both earlier films. It is the best of the three and it needs the other two, because almost every face in it is someone you have already met.

Then what? Two remakes exist and neither is part of the story: a Hindi language one in 2010 that is very hard to find and very poorly documented, and a British one in 2012 that retells the first film in London with Refn as executive producer. The only thread between the original films and a remake is Zlatko Buric, who plays Milo in all three Danish films and again in the British one.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
