Ranma ½

Eighteen episodes and then a hundred and forty three more under a second title, and the 1989 run still never reaches the ending. A remake thirty five years later starts again and is still going.

Where to start with Ranma ½

Two adaptations thirty five years apart, and the newer one starts over. Pick one rather than watching both, because the overlap is almost total.

  1. 1
    Ranma ½ (2024) Ranma ½

The best way in now. Newly animated, closer to the manga and without the filler, and it is still going. Twenty four episodes so far with a third season due in October 2026.

  2. 2
    Ranma ½ (1989) Ranma ½

The original, and the one a generation grew up with. Eighteen episodes, then it was cancelled and immediately relaunched under another title, which is the thing to know before you start.

  3. 3
    Ranma ½ Nettohen (1989) Ranma ½ Nettohen

The other hundred and forty three episodes, and the same series continuing. Streaming services list it as a separate show and it is not. Together with the eighteen before it, it still stops short of the manga's ending.

Then what? Two feature films from 1991 and 1992 belong to the 1989 series, and a twenty eight minute short followed in 1994. There are also eleven video episodes across the mid nineties, patching stories the series never got to. The 2024 remake connects to none of it.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
