Nine seasons, a tenth in 2026 that brought the cast back, and an argument about whether the ninth counts.
Seasons one to eight, in order, and then a decision. Season eight was written as the ending and works completely as one. Season nine was broadcast as Scrubs but has a different cast at a different hospital, the creator asked ABC to rename it and was refused, and plenty of people simply stop at eight. Season ten, in 2026, brought the original cast back sixteen years later.
