Five seasons of falling into the wrong Earth, and three different totals depending on who is counting the pilot. Fox aired the first three seasons out of order.
In broadcast order is the honest answer, because there is no single agreed intended order to use instead. It is mostly episodic, so the reordering hurts less than it would on a serialised show, but the first two seasons contain real continuity errors caused by Fox and knowing about them in advance is better than being confused by them.

A feature length pilot and then nine more. Fox led with the episodes it thought would rate, so Prince of Wails opens by resolving a cliffhanger from Summer of Love, which aired the week after.
Twenty five episodes and the most reordered. Double Cross was made as the premiere and Fox aired Rules of the Game first because it had more action in it.
The Sci-Fi Channel picks it up and starts airing episodes in the order they were written. The cast has changed substantially by this point.
Eighteen episodes ending in February 2000. It was cancelled rather than concluded, so there is no ending here.
