Soul Eater

Sixty three episodes, and the first fifty one stop following the manga around episode thirty six and invent their own ending.

Where to start with Soul Eater

Fifty one episodes in order, and then decide whether you want the real ending. The anime overtook the manga and invented its own final act, so the last dozen or so episodes are not what the book does, and the difference is not small.

  1. 1
The 2008 series, episodes one to about thirty six Soul Eater

This is the part that follows the manga. Sources put the break between episodes thirty five and thirty eight, and episode thirty six is already altered. Episodes seventeen and thirty two are one-off filler.

  2. 2
The 2008 series, the rest of the fifty one Soul Eater

An anime original final arc of roughly the last thirteen to fifteen episodes, ending with Maka defeating Asura with a bare fisted punch. It is a real ending and it is not the manga's.

  3. 3
Soul Eater Not!, twelve episodes Soul Eater Not!

A prequel in the same school about a year earlier, with a new cast. It spoils nothing and depends on nothing, so it works before or after. It is also a far gentler show than the one it is attached to.

Then what? If the invented ending did not satisfy you, the manga is twenty five volumes and finished, and you can pick it up from around chapter thirty seven. Crona absorbs Asura and seals them both inside the Moon, Death the Kid becomes the new Lord Death, a peace treaty is made with the witches, and Soul is declared the last Death Scythe. None of that is in the anime.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
