Where to start with D.Gray-man

A hundred and three episodes, then thirteen more made ten years later with a different cast. You can go straight from one to the other and nothing is re-told, but you should know two things first: a long stretch in the middle of the first run is invented, and nine manga chapters between the two runs were never animated at all.

  1. 1
The 2006 series, first stage, fifty one episodes D.Gray-man

Episodes one to thirteen follow the manga. Fourteen to eighteen, twenty five, twenty seven and twenty nine to fifty are largely anime original, including two unbroken invented stretches at twenty nine to thirty six and forty one to fifty. Skipping them is defensible; the story resumes properly at fifty one.

  2. 2
The second stage, fifty two episodes D.Gray-man

Episodes fifty one to a hundred and three follow the manga throughout, with no filler. This is the strongest part of the 2006 run.

  3. 3
    HALLOW, thirteen episodes D.Gray-man HALLOW

It moves forward rather than rewinding, so nothing is duplicated. But it opens with the Black Order already destroyed and rebuilt, Allen already under guard and the Third Exorcists already introduced, because roughly nine manga chapters between the two runs were animated by neither and HALLOW compresses them into opening narration.

Then what? HALLOW stops around chapter 208, well short of the manga, and no third series has ever been announced. If you want the rest you have to read it, and the manga itself is not finished either.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
