Shaman King

The 2001 anime invents its own ending, and the 2021 remake is the one that tells the real story.

Where to start with Shaman King

Watch the 2021 remake. The 2001 series makes up its own ending and cannot get you to the real one.

  1. 1
    Shaman King (2021) Shaman King

Fifty two episodes, starting from the beginning, and it adapts the complete manga through to the ending the author intended. This is the version that finishes the story.

  2. 2
Shaman King: Flowers (2024) Shaman King: Flowers

Thirteen episodes continuing the remake with the next generation. Be aware it stops before its own manga does, and no further season has been announced.

  3. 3
    Shaman King (2001) Shaman King

Only if you want the older version for its own sake. It is sixty four episodes, it is slower and more detailed in the early arcs, and it overtook the manga and invented an ending that contradicts it.

Then what? The manga is worth knowing about in two versions. The original thirty two volume run was cancelled before its intended ending. The twenty seven volume reissue from 2008 contains the real conclusion and is what the 2021 anime adapts. Two sequel manga follow, Flowers and The Super Star, and only the first of them has been animated.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
