Yu Yu Hakusho

One manga, one anime that adapts all of it, and a Netflix version that compresses half of it into five episodes.

Where to start with Yu Yu Hakusho

Watch the anime. It covers the whole manga, which almost nothing from this era does.

  1. 1
    YuYu Hakusho (1992) YuYu Hakusho

A hundred and twelve episodes that adapt all nineteen volumes and actually finish. A teenager dies saving a child in the first episode and spends the rest of the series working for the afterlife.

  2. 2
Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report (1994) Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report

The only real feature here, ninety five minutes, and an original story rather than an adaptation. Watch it after the Dark Tournament if you want it to fit.

  3. 3
    YuYu Hakusho (2023) YuYu Hakusho

The Netflix live action version, five episodes. It is not a substitute: it compresses roughly half the manga, reorders large parts of it and stops in the middle of the Toguro story.

Then what? The 1993 film is a thirty minute short rather than a feature, and both films are original stories outside the manga. A set of video releases from the mid nineties is mostly recap and side material, with no reliable count anywhere, so none is listed. A second season of the Netflix series has been reported and has no announced date.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
