Throne of Glass

Eight books, and where the prequel collection goes is the argument this whole fandom has.

Where to start with Throne of Glass

Two orders, and the difference is where the novellas go.

  1. 1
Throne of Glass first, or The Assassin's Blade first Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire

The novellas come before the first book chronologically, and reading them first spoils something the first book keeps back. Reading them after book one, or after book three, is the more common advice. Reading them after book two is the most common recommendation of all.

  2. 2
Then through to Queen of Shadows Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire

The series changes shape in the third book, Heir of Fire, which a lot of readers find slow and which is where the whole thing turns into epic fantasy.

  3. 3
Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn together Queen of Shadows, Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn, Kingdom of Ash

Tower of Dawn is not a sequel to Empire of Storms. They run at the same time. Many readers alternate chapters between the two using published guides, and reading Tower of Dawn afterwards works but is flatter.

Then what? Kingdom of Ash finishes the series. The Crescent City books are a separate series that crosses over in its third volume, so finish this one first.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
