Winx Club

On the data. The count first, because it is the question people arrive with. Eight seasons, twenty-six episodes each, two hundred and eight in total. There is no season nine and none has been announced. What people mean when they say season nine is the 2025 CG reboot, which is numbered as its own season one. Now the thing that makes this franchise genuinely hard, which is the English dubs. There are three of them, not two, and they do not cover the same seasons. 4Kids dubbed seasons one to three between 2004 and 2009, heavily rewritten and censored, with characters renamed. Aisha became Layla. Rainbow revoked their agreement in 2009 and they never dubbed the fourth season. Cinelume made Rainbow's own English version, uncut and faithful, and it is the only English track that runs continuously through the first four seasons. It is the version on the later DVD releases. Nickelodeon made a third dub from 2011 with a new Hollywood cast, and this is where it gets strange. Nickelodeon did not dub seasons one and two at all. Instead it commissioned four newly animated specials that compress those fifty-two episodes into four, and then started its episode dubbing at season three. It also re-recorded seasons three and four line for line with new English episode titles, so the same twenty-six episodes exist under two different sets of English names. The practical consequence is that somebody who only ever watched Winx on Nickelodeon has never seen seasons one and two as episodes. And any list keyed on English titles will either duplicate seasons three and four or fail to match them at all. The films are less settled than they look. The first follows the third season cleanly and is safe to place. The third is set after the fifth season. For the second, no source this site trusts says which season it follows, and the widespread claim that the second and third films contradict seasons five and six could not be verified, so none of that is stated here as fact. One editorial note on the 2025 reboot, because it is the kind of thing worth knowing before you watch: it drew criticism over alleged use of generative AI in its concept art, and its own credits carry a line about sequences enhanced with AI-supported filters.
