Zorro

A hundred years of adaptations that almost never connect, and only two real sequel pairs in the whole lot.

Where to start with Zorro

There is no order. Every version starts the character again from nothing, so pick the one you actually want and ignore the rest.

  1. 1
The Mask of Zorro (1998) The Mask of Zorro

The best film version and the easiest place to start. Antonio Banderas taking over from Anthony Hopkins, and it needs nothing before it. It has one real sequel and that is all.

  2. 2
The Mark of Zorro (1940) The Mark of Zorro

The classic, with Tyrone Power. A sound remake of the 1920 silent film, and the version most people picture when they hear the name. It leads nowhere, which is fine.

  3. 3
    Zorro (1957) Zorro

The Disney series, and the one a lot of people actually grew up on. Seventy eight episodes with Guy Williams, plus four hour long specials that did not go out until 1960 and 1961.

Then what? Only two sequel relationships exist in the whole of this. The 1920 silent film has a real sequel in 1925, and the 1998 film has one in 2005. Everything else stands alone: the 1990 Family Channel series, the Japanese animation, and the two completely separate series that both arrived in 2024, one Spanish and one French. The Sign of Zorro is a feature cut out of Disney series episodes rather than a film of its own.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
