Where to start with Airport

Release order, but only because it tracks one running joke. There is no story between these films and any of them works alone.

  1. 1
    Airport (1970) Airport

The one that started the whole seventies disaster cycle, and the only one adapted from Arthur Hailey's novel. Burt Lancaster, a blizzard and a man with a bomb in a briefcase.

  2. 2
    Airport 1975 (1974) Airport 1975

Released in 1974 despite the title. It is the most famous of the sequels because Airplane! spends most of its running time taking it apart, so watching it first makes that film much funnier.

  3. 3
    The Concorde ... Airport '79 (1979) The Concorde ... Airport '79

The last one, and the reason the series is remembered as camp. George Kennedy's character was a mechanic in 1970 and by this film he is flying Concorde. Sold in Britain and Japan as Airport '80.

Then what? Airport '77 fills the gap, with a 747 sunk in the Bermuda Triangle and Jack Lemmon and James Stewart in the cast. There is no order to any of it beyond release date, and only the first film comes from the novel.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
