Aladdin

Four animated entries in a straight line, and the third film is really the series finale.

Where to start with Aladdin

Four animated entries, and for once the release order and the story order are the same thing. The only thing worth knowing in advance is that the third film is not a side story: it is where the series ends.

  1. 1
    Aladdin (1992) Aladdin

    Nothing precedes it.

  2. 2
The Return of Jafar (1994) The Return of Jafar

Before the series, not after. It was built from the series' first five planned episodes and the series assumes it has happened.

  3. 3
Aladdin, the series (1994 to 1995) Aladdin

Eighty-six episodes set a year after the film. Episodic, so any order within it works.

  4. 4
Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996) Aladdin and the King of Thieves

Treat this as the series finale, because that is what it is. Aladdin finds his father, he and Jasmine marry, and Iago leaves with Cassim.

  5. 5
Hercules and the Arabian Night (1999) Hercules and the Arabian Night

Optional, and the furthest point on the timeline. A crossover episode of the Hercules series.

  6. 6
    Aladdin (2019) Aladdin

Separate continuity. Watch it whenever, or not.

Then what? That is all of it. Jasmine turns up in Disney Princess Enchanted Tales and in Mickey's House of Villains, and neither is part of this story.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
