Where to start with ER

The pilot, and then straight through. There is no clever order here and no reason to skip ahead, but there is one thing worth knowing before you commit: this is a fifteen year show whose cast replaces itself entirely. The people on the poster are gone by season six, and the people who replace them are gone by season twelve. That is the design, not a decline.

  1. 1
    Season 1, '24 Hours' ER

A ninety minute pilot directed by Rod Holcomb from Michael Crichton's script. It establishes the pace the whole series runs at, and almost nothing about it has dated.

  2. 2
    Season 1 ER

Twenty five episodes, the longest season it ever ran, and the one that made the show a phenomenon.

  3. 3
Season 6, when the cast starts turning over ER

The point people quit, usually because a favourite left. Push through it. The show keeps working for another nine years with different people.

Then what? It runs to season fifteen and ends on 2 April 2009, with a finale that brings back a good number of the people who left. Seasons two to twelve are twenty two episodes each, so the shape is very regular once season one is behind you.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
