Firefly

Fourteen episodes, eleven of which Fox aired in the wrong order, and a film that finishes the story. Watch it in the order it was written, not the order it went out.

Where to start with Firefly

Watch the two hour pilot, Serenity, first. Fox refused to open with it, commissioned The Train Job as a replacement premiere, then broadcast the real pilot eleventh and last. The DVD, the 2011 Science Channel run and every guide since put it back at the front, and so should you. Then the film.

  1. 1
Serenity, the two hour pilot Firefly

It introduces all nine characters and the reason River Tam is on the ship. Watching The Train Job first means being told none of that.

  2. 2
The remaining thirteen, in intended order Firefly

The Train Job, Bushwhacked, Shindig, Safe, Our Mrs. Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of Gas, Ariel, War Stories, Trash, The Message, Heart of Gold, Objects in Space. Fox ran them as 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 4, 5, 9, 10, 14, 1 and never aired the last three at all.

  3. 3
    Serenity, the 2005 film Serenity

It continues directly from Objects in Space and resolves the River story. It is also the only ending this has.

Then what? The R. Tam Sessions, five short promotional videos, if you want a little more. They are prequel material and add nothing you need.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Sync & backup

Your progress is saved on this device automatically. The code below takes a copy out and puts it back. Moving a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is part of the subscription.

The code holds only this franchise. The link opens the tracker with your progress already filled in, good for showing someone where you're at. The image is a picture you can keep anywhere: scan the code on it with a phone, or drag the file back in below.

Every franchise you have touched, in one code.

Scan it with another device's camera, or paste the code in below. It never leaves your browser.

Drag a SagaList image here, or .

This reads the progress stored inside the picture, so nothing has to be retyped. If the image has been through a messaging app it may have been re-encoded and lost that: scan the code on it instead, or copy the code printed along the bottom.

Takes either kind of code. A single franchise code replaces that franchise, on any device. An everything code merges by default, so nothing you have ticked on this device is lost. Putting a whole list onto a device that has nothing on it yet is the part an account pays for.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.
