Five versions, four of them with the identical title, and only two of them connected.

Where to start with Freaky Friday

There is no single watch order here, because four of the five are separate adaptations of the same 1972 novel and share nothing but the premise. Only one pair connects.

  1. 1
    Freaky Friday (2003) Freaky Friday

This is the one most people mean, and it is the only one that a later film requires. Tess and Anna Coleman swap bodies the week before Tess's wedding.

  2. 2
    Freakier Friday (2025) Freakier Friday

A direct sequel set twenty-two years later. Anna is now raising a teenage daughter, and the film brings back Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal and several others from 2003. This is the only entry with a prerequisite.

  3. 3
Freaky Friday (1976), (1995) and (2018) Freaky Friday

Take these in any order or not at all. Each is a standalone adaptation with its own cast and its own ending, and none of them is referenced by the 2003 film or its sequel.

Then what? That is all five. The 2018 version is the odd one out even among the standalones, because it adapts the stage musical rather than the novel directly.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
