Three films tell one story: 1995, then 2017, then 2019, and the 2017 film is a continuation of the 1995 one rather than a remake of it, which is the thing most people get wrong. The cartoon and Zathura are both real and neither is in that story. Watch the three, in order, and treat the other two as extras.
