Hellsing

The 2001 series abandons the manga partway and invents an ending. Hellsing Ultimate is the one that adapts all of it.

Where to start with Hellsing

Watch Hellsing Ultimate. The 2001 series is a different story with a different ending and it is not a first season.

  1. 1
    Hellsing Ultimate (2006) Hellsing Ultimate

Ten episodes adapting all ten volumes of the manga through to the real ending. This is the version. It took nearly seven years and three studios to make, so the animation changes noticeably between the blocks.

  2. 2
    Hellsing (2001) Hellsing

Only if you want the older one for itself. Thirteen episodes that follow the manga briefly and then invent a villain, a plot and an ending of their own. It is not a prequel to Ultimate and the two contradict each other.

  3. 3
    Hellsing (1997 manga) Hellsing

Ten volumes, finished, and the source Ultimate follows closely. Reading it after Ultimate adds detail rather than story.

Then what? Hellsing: The Dawn exists twice, as an abandoned prequel manga and as three short episodes bundled with the last Ultimate releases. Neither has an ending. A live action film has been in development since 2021 with nothing released.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
