Where to start with Lone Wolf and Cub

The six films in order. They are one serialised story and they were made to be watched that way.

  1. 1
Sword of Vengeance (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance

The setup: how Ogami Itto lost everything and why he is pushing a baby cart along the road with a spear hidden in it.

  2. 2
Baby Cart at the River Styx (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx

The best of the six by most reckonings, and the one an American producer later cut most of Shogun Assassin out of.

  3. 3
Baby Cart to Hades (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades

The third film released in the same year as the first two, which tells you how fast these were made. From here it runs straight through to the sixth.

Then what? Baby Cart in Peril, Baby Cart in the Land of Demons and White Heaven in Hell finish the run in that order. Shogun Assassin is not a seventh film: it is the first two cut together and dubbed, so watching it before them spoils both and watching it after them is repetition. Final Conflict from 1993 is a separate adaptation with a different actor. Two television series exist and neither connects to the films.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
