Where to start with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

Two routes, and you should pick one rather than mixing them. Television first, or films first.

  1. 1
The TV route: Nanoha, then A's, then StrikerS Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

Thirteen, thirteen and twenty six episodes. This is the original and the one most people mean. A's is the high point.

  2. 2
The film route: The Movie 1st, then The Movie 2nd A's The Movie 1st and The Movie 2nd A's

The same first two seasons retold with better animation and some changed events. Faster, and it is the continuity the later films use.

  3. 3
Reflection, then Detonation Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection / Detonation

An original two part story from 2017 and 2018. It follows the films, so the film route is the cleaner way in if this is where you are headed. Detonation is the second half of one film, not a sequel.

Then what? ViVid and Vivid Strike! are twelve episode spin-offs about the next generation. StrikerS is required for ViVid to make sense; Vivid Strike! is not really about the family and works on its own. Force and the other manga carry the story past everything animated.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
