Go Nagai's two founding robot franchises, the shows that invented the genre, and the three crossover films that are canon to neither.
Two franchises by the same man, catalogued together because the crossover films put them together and because nobody looks one up without hitting the other. Neither needs to be watched from 1972. Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger are one story; Grendizer stands beside them rather than after them, whatever the marketing said. Getter Robo and Getter Robo G are one story and everything after 1976 is a standalone retelling. If you want the shortest honest way in, take Mazinkaiser for Mazinger and New Getter Robo for Getter, seven and thirteen episodes.
