Where to start with Phantasm

In order, all five, and there is no trick to it. This is one of the few horror series where every sequel starts where the last one stopped.

  1. 1
    Phantasm (1979) Phantasm

Nothing prepares you for it and nothing else needs to come first. A funeral home, a tall man, and a flying silver sphere.

  2. 2
    Phantasm II (1988) Phantasm II

Opens on the first film's final scene. The one jolt is that adult Mike is played by a different actor here and only here, because the studio insisted.

  3. 3
Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994) Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead

Starts immediately after the second and brings back the original Mike. From this point the cast is stable to the end.

Then what? Phantasm IV: Oblivion from 1998 and Phantasm: Ravager from 2016 close it out, in that order. The fourth is assembled partly from offcuts of the earlier films and the fifth deliberately splits itself across several realities, so both feel looser than what came before. Phantasm: Remastered, also 2016, is a 4K restoration of the 1979 film rather than a new entry, so do not go hunting it for new story.

A suggested way in, not an official one. The full list is below: tick anything off in either place.

Everything you tick is saved in this browser and nowhere else. An account is the only way to put your list on another device, and the only way to get it back if this browser clears its storage. It is free and it takes an email address and a password.

Sign in on your phone, your laptop, anything, and the same list is there, kept in step as you tick. Nothing to copy, nothing to remember.

All three are about this franchise and all three are for showing, not moving. The link and the picture open SagaList with that progress displayed next to whatever the person opening it has already ticked. The code is what a friend pastes into Compare below. None of them writes anything into anybody's list.

Read only. This never changes what you have saved, and nothing leaves your browser. The code has to be their code for this same franchise: codes do not carry a name, so one from somewhere else may not be recognised as wrong.

Removes everything ticked here, in this browser. If you are signed in it clears on your other devices too. If you are not, there is no other copy and this cannot be undone.
